Restaurant Witteveen, Amsterdam (Netherlands)

This new restaurant, open since two weeks,  has deffinitly surprised me. I've dined here last saturday.

The look of the restaurant is realy nice and cosy and diveded in three sections. First you have a sort of lounge area were you can sit and relax and have a nice drink or nice snack or small meal.

Than you got a big bar in the middle of the location where you can sit at the front and end of the bar to have a drink. Further there are different kinds of tables were you can dine or drink. Small two or four  person tables and a few long tables which offers seats for like 15 persons. The nice thing of those large tables is that you don't have to use the whole table but a section of it. This means that you will sit with other people at the same table. That makes it  realy cosy and low treshold. Another nice feature is the long chesterfield like couch on one site of the whole space. Than you have at the back of the space a sort of closed room, specially for privat diners, or children parties. And they have a nice wine "celler" at the back, which also provides room for wine tastings or courses.

The menu is realy nice thougt and well balanced. The restaurant is open from 09.00 till 01.00 'o clock on sunday til thursday and from friday till saturday from 09.00 till 03.00 which means that they have breakfast, lunch, diner and drinking opportunities.
The menu is simple but it's quality is realy good. What I liked on the menu was the Witteveen Breakfast: a big plate with small different sandwitches, coffe or thea, orange juice, and more. Besides that they also have "daghap" every day they have a different dish on the menu for a great price and with different national and international kitchens.

I had the deersteak witch was great. Rich flavours, tender meat, and well balanced. We took the house wine, a nice Chardonnay for a great price. My guests took the duck, the hambuger and lemon sole ( sliptong) and they were also enthousiastic about there meals.

The price quality relation is realy good, count that with very nice and friendly and well skilled personel, good ambiance  and Amsterdam is a great restaurant richer.

My mark for this restaurant, based on service level, quality of the food, ambiance, and price, is a 8.
